By having the image on the double page spread as a ‘on profile shot’ immediately makes the picture stand out because the artist is looking directly at the reader catching there eye immediately. This connotes that the artist within the image is confident and their music ‘stands out’ from everyone else’s.  Also by placing the ‘icon’ ring right next to her head suggests that she is a role model to many and that people look up to her and her achievements. However by having the artist herself demonstrate almost a shocked expression suggests that she is surprised that so many look up to her and that she is humble for the support that she has.

The double page consists of and interview between Nicki Minaj and an interviewee. To make it easier for the reader to know when different questions have been asked the editor has put the questions in a bold font. This helps the reader to identify when one question has been asked and then recognise cleary when another has been asked. Also by having the artists name in a big, bold font instantly informs the reader who the article is about. By having her name as the biggest font as well detonates to the reader that she is the most important thing on this page, and that everything is going to be about her.

By having the artist dressed in black and white connotes multiple things. First of all the colour white stereotypically connotes purity and innocence and then on the other had the colour black stereotypically connotes evil and badness, and I mainly used on villains in films/books etc. By using the contrast of colours on the artist suggests to us as an audience that she has two different sides to her and because of this she can appeal to a wider range of audiences because her music can cater for many.

Two different types of pinks are used throughout the double page spread, a light one used on the background and then a darker one used on the artists name and on the dropped cap. By having her name in a darker font than the background makes it stand out, again signifying her importance but also by using a darker colour connotes to the audience that she has a bad/feisty side to her and that she doesn’t like being part of the background, she prefers to make a statement and stand out. Overall the use of the colour pink stereotypically connotes a girly feel to the double page spread and will immediately attract girls to read the article.

By having the article in columns makes the presence of the double page spread look neater. This adds to the house style of the magazine and makes it look more professional as everything is well thought about and nothing seems cluttered. This creates a more mature atmosphere to the overall feel of the magazine and allows the magazine to have more of a chance of selling because people respect the magazine because the editor has made it look mature and friendly and easy to use.
